Good Eats Out

This new page will answer why seniors eat out more and I will list some of the many many great places our family members love. Your suggestions where you live are also welcome.

With my current East Coast Trek ending, I have decided to start with some of the restaurants I have eaten at in New York that will certainly be a stop for you if you are there. My niece Yvonne (Bonnie) Powell-Adimola is not only a tremendous cook, but she's a FOODIE, and knows where to go to get great food.

Our family Pastor Mr. Bruce McLaurin is not only a wonderful gift to the world, but he loves good eats and has shared some of his food delights in Cleveland, Ohio.

Why seniors eat out more

Convenience and Lifestyle Shifts

  • Easier than cooking for one: Preparing a large, balanced meal for a single person can feel like too much work or lead to a lot of food waste. Going out removes the hassle of cooking and cleaning.
  • The Baby Boomer habit: As the massive Baby Boomer generation ages, they bring lifelong habits of dining out regularly rather than viewing it as a rare special occasion.
  • Disposable income: Many older adults have finished paying off mortgages or raised their families, leaving them with more flexible funds to spend on leisure activities like restaurant meals.
  • Professional chefs have been trained to please our pallets and their food really taste good.

Chime in and send in some of your go to restaurants.

Don't forget to tell us where you live and the cost of the meal.

Good Eats in New York

Kajin Seafood, Bronx New York

Bonine took me to this place earlier this month. It's operated by Chinese and the food is way too good. It's an all you can eat buffet, featuring all kinds of seafood and lobster. You've never tasted lobster like this. The fried shrimp is to die for. For $39.00, I put it up with any buffet in Vegas.

Kajin Seafood, Bronx NY

At Kaijin Buffet, we pride ourselves on offering a premier seafood dining experience in Bronx, NY. Our extensive buffet features a tantalizing variety of fresh seafood, expertly prepared dishes, and a warm, inviting atmosphere suitable for any occasion.

Kaijin Buffet was founded with a passion for sharing high-quality seafood dishes with the community. We started as a small local eatery and have since grown into a beloved destination for seafood lovers.

We have served a diverse clientele, ranging from families celebrating special occasions to corporate events and large gatherings. Our dedication to customer satisfaction has made us a preferred choice for many.

I have had lobster many times and many places, but none of that has the taste of this one. They ring a bell every 30 minutes when the lobster comes out. You have two hours, so four (4) would be the max.

With all of that other stuff, you cannot eat four lobster tails.

You have never tasted fried shrimp like the ones shown in the photo above. OMG, every bite is killer and I mean all of the taste buds in your mouth are very happy and even the ones that can't taste anymore!

Their cajun twist on everything is on the money!

OMG, couldn't eat it all and home it went. It didn't get to see the dawn of the next day.

If you grew up anywhere in the city or Long Island, we know it to be the best pizza anywhere. Chicago thinks they have it too. Don't know about that yet. Although my travels to Italy last year gave me a chance to taste theirs. It may have been the best of the best. Anyways, as far as America is concerned, New York has the best pizza.

My cousin Bruce took me out to breakfast at this black own restaurant in Cleveland. Best breakfast I have had in some time. The very first thing I saw on the menu was Shrimp and Grits. Both cousin and I had the same thing. After making my choice he said it was his go to choice when he comes here. I soon found out why. The best Shrimp & Grits thatI have ever had!!!

Everything on the menu was awful tempting. I know where I'll be going when I return to Cleveland next time.

Visited The Pompadour for Valentine's Day. We had made reservations , which is recommended. It is a small dining room and bar. But, it had all the right vibes for an intimate meal. Our waitress, Kelly, was super friendly and helpful. It is a small plate restaurant, different than your normal dining experience. The selections come out in phases but a bit like family style, as to say we shared the meal. It's not really an app then entree type meal.
But, But!, it was amazing.
We had some cocktails, my wife got Island in the Stream and I sampled the bourbon selection.
We then shared the Ricotta Gundi & sausage and grapes. Wow.
We then shared the Octopus and the Venison, both fantastic.
Then she brought out the special, which was a 6oz Wagyu strip steak and shiitake mushrooms. I can't say enough about it.
The bill was not inexpensive but the entire meal, the service, the experience was well worth it.
If you need a special night, this place is a must visit!!:

Greg's son Matthew gave my aunt and I the heads up on this pizza joint. He was absolutely right. The pizza is very good. We got the vegetarian with Italian sausage and pepperoni. It was by far the very best veggie pie I have ever had. The vegetables were so huge and fresh.

I thoroughly recommend the veggie pie and put whatever  protein you like on it.
