Say hello to Mr. James K. McLaurin

August is the eigth month of the year in the Gregorian and Julian calendars and has 31 days. August history includes the naming of the month after Roman Emperor Augustus, the tragic eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and major milestones for civil rights.

August is most commonly represented by light green, sun orange, and golden yellow. These shades reflect the bright, late-summer season and the month's primary birthstone.

The new school year approaches and parents are happy their kids are on their way back to school, What do the kids and the parents have to look forward to in the America we live in now? Will education in America for the 2026-2027 school year have major changes?

Yes, the 2026-2027 school year brings major changes driven by federal policy turbulence, shifting curriculum standards, and localized district overhauls.

Parents get involved! Find out what this new school year brings for your child and you by getting to the school and asking the hard questions to the staff at your child's school.

America for people of color if we don't stop this shit NOW!

image above created by James K McLaurin using AI

You might be wondering how I created this image above. GOD gave all of us a brain. Some of us try to exercise it as much as we can to keep it healthy as long as we can. I was just working on this month's site articles, thinking I'm a little short on stories when GOD stepped in and now you see the result.

Although the picture above is a little extreme, these are extreme times and if we the people don't understand what our eyes and ears are witnessing now, time has a way of moving so fast, we could wake up one day to this! He is always with us. We need to be always with him!

Wake up my people! Take care of your business in November!

When you go to the polls, give someone a ride if they need one. Constantly remind folks of this historic mid-term. God won't let us down, but we have to make an effort!

9 Great Reasons to play tennis

Are you doing anything to maintain your health?

  1. Full body movement is a basic requirement when playing tennis. You run, bend, and use your arms and legs.
  2. Anytime you run your cardio gets stronger, your muscles get stronger, and your overall health gets stronger.
  3. Social tennis always brings happier moods. However, competitive tennis can also elicit some very bad moods.
  4. Tennis is a quick moving game therefore quicker thinking is enhanced.
  5. Playing new people certainly develops new friendships for life sometimes.
  6. Stress is real and people have always hit on things to relieve it. People get hit all the time by stressed out people. Why not just take a racquet and hit the hell out of a yellow ball. It feels good.
  7. The more you indulged in something, the more confidence you build and can apply to other things.
  8. Tennis and any other hobbies always builds personal growth.
  9. Tennis is a helalty lifestyle. "Tennis a game for life"

Go buy a racquet!

This video was taken one saturday morning after lots of rain that night before. The court is still wet and were waiting for it to dry. Warming up is just moving slowly and hitting softly to get your swing and rhythm going. Oh I forgot to say I'm 73 years here.

I started playing tennis in 1976 and never stopped playing. In New York you could only play in the spring and summer. Here in Houston I have been able to play year round outside because of the climate. I started playing tennis for a reason only my cousin Spider (James Greene) would come up with. Every spring, Spider and my cousin Louie Day and myself would get together in early spring and discuss where the ladies would be that summer season. Spider said the trend was the ladies would be on the tennis courts with those pretty short tennis skirts and we needed to be there too. We went and bought racquets and outfits.

The ladies didn't come that summer so Spider and Louie quit. I continued playing and was so fortunate to get professional lessons free from King Van Nostrand. He was my algebra teacher at Bay Shore, H.S. on Long Island during the 70's.

I've played at a high level for us hackers in USTA tournaments all over Texas. Today I'm still at it. The youngsters do not care that I'm 74 years old. If you're on the court, they are trying to rip a hole in your arse. I hold my own and still have fun, especially when I win!!!
