Pictured to the left is your webmaster for mcsydcom.godaddysites.com. Say hello to Mr. James K. McLaurin, born and raised in Bay Shore, N.Y., now residing in Houston, Texas since the early eighties.
Having a computer programming background in HTML and an established computer business in Houston, Texas, I decided to use my skills to give something back to my family that raised me. This site has been up and running since 2005. Over the years it has grown in many ways.
Believe you me, it's a lot of work, but I enjoy keeping the family and friends of the family in tuned with family and the world we live in.
Shown to the right is Savannah, Georgia's Forsyth Park.
The McLaurin’s hail from Savannah, Georgia and landed in New York during the early 1940’s. John W. McLaurin Sr. made the pilgrimage from Savannah to Long Island. Many have moved on to other states, but there's still a bunch of them in New York today.
My grandmother Leola Lovett connects us to the Brown family reunion in Savannah, Georgia. I attended for the first time in 2012. Wow! What a fantastic weekend spent in Savannah, Georgia.
The Reunion of 2024 was another blockbuster and if you missed it, YOU MISSED IT! Check out the story and pictures on our Home Page and Reunion Page when our August edition is published 08/01/24.
Shown to the left is City Hall downtown Philadelphia.
The immediate Sydnor family hails from the great city of Philadelphia, PA and migrated to New York also. However, they too have roots in the south, namely Virginia. A family reunion has been ongoing now for several years in Virginia and I know this event is something I have yet to attend, but know that I will attend in the future. Frankly, I don't know my relatives down south and this site hopefully will be a conduit for all to get together to know more about family..
This site was originally created to keep family members informed of the happenings of its family. Over the many years it has evolved into a wealth of family information and a place where members can keep up with world events as well. .
Technology has gotten better and it is easier for everyone to share. So, take this opportunity to let us know who you are and the great things going on with you and your immediate family.
Check out our Technology Tidbits page here.
Both families enjoy all kinds of sports and are truly engaged. Pictured to the left is your webmaster Mr. James K McLaurin playing fast pitch softball in the Republic of The Phillipines in 1972. He could have played for the infamous Bay Shore Bombers way back in the day. They were the best!
Check out our new MCSYD Sports Page here.
Pictured to the right is the one pot dish made by your webmaster Mr. James K. McLaurin.
Of course FOOD is something family enjoys. My mom was a very good cook. My dad had skills too as he cooked in the army. Family member Yvonne (Bonnie) Powell-Adimola is one of our best cooks in our family to date. Her dishes have been thoroughly tested by both sides of the family. She can flat out put you to sleep!
Our site houses a "Family Receipe" page. If you have skills in the kitchen and would like to share with us some of your delicious dishes, please feel free to send them in.
Check out our Family Receipe Page here.
Shown to the left is the A-20 Nighthawk
built by my twin brother John W. McLaurin III.
John has been a modeler since childhood and still enjoys the hobby today. His modeling and drawing skills will be on display here at our site.
Families possess members with many different kinds of hobbies. Our family is no different. Share with us a hobby that you enjoy.
When you meet us you'll also notice a wide variety of humor in us all. We do have a joke page also, so if you have a good one to tell you can. Black people are naturally funny and we enjoy comedy.
Humor is something we all love and we have amongst our family some amazing natural comedians. Our eldest surviving female, Ms. Dora M McLaurin is truly a funny lady.
Check out our Jokes Page here.
First of all and probably the most unusual fun fact is that the union of the McLaurin’s and Sydnor’s have produced well over fifteen (15) sets of twins. The bulk of the twins come from the Sydnor family. Both identical and fraternal exist. The Squires of Philadelphia had three(3) sets of boys in the same house. Pictured to the left is Jermaine and Jamya Ransom. Check in at our Twins R Us page and see how they have grown.
Both families are represented in this picture on the dance floor. Mr. Christopher Sydnor and Ms. Dora (Bambi) McLaurin. They look like they know what they're doing.
Your webmaster's high school graduation photo at Bay Shore High School in 1971. James was selected as the outstanding student athlete by the Suffolk County Board of Officials. He won a full scholarship to Iona College.
Pictured above are two of the funniest human beings you can ever meet. You already met Bambi dancing with Chris on the left. She is a very funny lady. Bringing up the rear is her brother Wilbur McLaurin. Although he has passed, he was very funny. However, bets are Bambi may have said something funny to him as they depart a family gathering.
Mr. James Greene loves to travel. Seen here sitting on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The Brown-George Family Reunion in Savannah, Georgia is always the bomb. Great food, activities, and people, in a great southern city where the McLaurin's hail from.
Check out our Reunions Page here.
Shown above is one of our very own, an original member of the kids Cedar Street Gang in Bay Shore, New York, Pastor Bruce McLaurin. Mr. McLaurin is the senior pastor at the First Baptist Church of South Euclid in Cleveland, Ohio. You can view his weekly Sunday service here on our site.

Pop Pop brought the McLaurin's from Savannah, Georgia in the early 1940's to New York. He was a construction worker, and barber on the side. He also was a haberdasher.
This group of individuals are some of Pop Pop's children. Not shown are son Jay and sister Catherine. They passed before picture was taken.

My aunt Dot was a lady who I admired tremendously. She is the Sydnor lady who gave birth to three (3) sets of boy twins in the same house. They lived in Philadelphia. It was always so much fun going to her house in Philadelphia to play with my cousins and go to the candy store down the block.
This image is priceless! Pictured above is Uncle WM and Aunt Orelia. Mr. Wright Moye and his wife Orelia Lovett. The Lovett's connect the McLaurin's to the Brown-George Reunion in Savannah. Thank you Nicole Coldwater Moye for sending us this gem.The Lovett blog is under construction. Lots more to come from them.
Pictured from the left: Aunts Grace McLaurin Day, Carrie Belle McLaurin Greene, Great Aunt Matilda Lovett, and Dora McLaurin. This picture was taken at the 7 Cedar Street house in Bay Shore, New York. Cannot see Uncle Carl's ride, but like him, it was clean with the big white walls. When I grow up I want to style like him. See him on the Lovett blog when it is complete.
This home is still standing in Savannah, Georgia. The ladies in the picture to the left and their brothers lived in this house before they migrated to New York.
