Shamara was born to the proud parents James K. McLaurin and Vickie C Baldwin on July 8, 1979 on Long Island, New York. She attended Babylon schools throughout her early childhood education and graduated from Babylon High School with honors. She obtained her associates degree and is employed as an insurance analyst on Long Island. Like her dad, she loves sports and is very active as you can see in the picture above.
Her mother’s side of the family are originally from North Carolina with most of her immediate family members living on Long Island. I would like to talk about her grandmother “Pauline Baldwin” for a minute. Pauline was raised in North Carolina and did not complete her education. She was illiterate but her heart was made of gold and her work ethnic was extraordinary. She worked as a housekeeper for the wealthy in the Babylon area. She couldn’t drive, but could beat you to where you were going. This remarkable woman lived into her nineties and has been missed by everyone who knew her.
Shamara wanted to start learning how to drive a car at the age of three, so she thought. One day I took her with me when I went to Bay Shore for a quick visit with my Uncle Moses. I left her in the car because I wouldn’t be long with my uncle. He informed me that she was standing up behind the wheel and was jerking controls to make the car go. Of course I ran outside to the car only to notice she wasn’t going anywhere because her leg could not reach the clutch. Had that Toyota been an automatic, we might have been watching her take off.
Shamara and her family live out in Eastern Long Island. Her son Cory attended North Babylon High School where is was a prominent basketball player. He currently is matriculating at Suffolk Community College. His interest is Astrology and he hopes to find a career in this field.
Her future plans are to move out of The Big Apple and move south where she also has a wealth of relatives in the Raleigh Durham area.
