Unlike the old old days when families basically lived near each other, those days have not been true for generations. Therefore we all have family members we really never knew. Diane is one such person. Yes her immediate family knew her well.
So now we have the technology and some relatives who don't mind sharing their time and resources to let us know more about one of us. Diane's sister Marilyn Squires Champine is the person responsible for getting us the information about our cousin, therefore Marilyn will be recalling her relationship with her sister. The pretty dress Diane is wearing in the picture was made by her sister Marilyn back in the late 90's.
Marilyn says Diane:
Was always the first in style from clothes to her hairdo. She was a leader in Sherwood Center for swimming. Diane loved crafting, crocheting, knitting, macrame, hand sewing, plastic canvas creating, or free style Christmas ornament makings.
At a our last family reunion at Aunt Punkin's in North Bay Shore, 2007, Diane and her sister Daphne exchanged gifts. Daphne gave Diane an outfit of Native Regalia that she had made for her. It's so beautiful! Pictures of Diane wearing this outfit will be shown.
Diane had a 14" doll for Daphne wearing Native Regalia. I told Diane, I'd felt slighted due to Daphne's doll had on boonies! Diane had sent to me by mail my doll, I officially call her "Diane." My Diane didn't have on boonies. I called Diane on it. Boonies: the closet of a female undergarments. Diane put me in check by reminding me she'd sent me a few pieces of crocheted items. I'm still not happy, Daphnes' doll had boonies and mine didn't.
A lap pad Diane pink/white because hot pink is my favorite color hand crocheted by Diane. "Diane My 14 Doll" Diane did in canvas dressing using knitting threads.
Diane passed sometime after 2007 from pancreactic cancer. Her story is in medical journals because she suffered seven (7) years with paracentesis.
